Watch this week’s video: The Key to Total Wellness
Physical activity is the foundation of the wellness pyramid, enabling better nutrition, sleep, self-realization and relationships. But the sedentary behavior threatens it all.
When you exercise regularly, research shows your diet improves too. You naturally start craving healthier foods over junk. Additionally, it provies a powerful reason to occasionally say “NO” to pizza and other unhealthy foods. But sitting all day does the opposite, ruining your diet.
Active people also enjoy deeper, higher quality sleep. Moving your body reduces stress, boosts mood, decreases sleep apnea too. But lounging on the couch disrupts your sleep cycle.
Caring for your body by moving boosts self-esteem and self-confidence. It’s an act of self-love, telling yourself you’re worth the effort. But sitting silently wrecks your self-image.
Finally, relationships improve when you have a healthy self-image from working out. You build your wellness pyramid from the base up. But inactivity erodes your foundation, leaving you empty inside.
The choice is yours. Rise up the wellness pyramid by making movement a daily habit. Or descend into the inverted pyramid of sedentary self-destruction.
Take a walk, go for a jog, hit the gym. Get off the couch and start actively investing in yourself through exercise. Survive and thrive the sedentary apocalypse by making physical activity a regular part of your routine.
I’ve warned about the dangers of inactivity for years. This is more urgent than ever. Download the Wakeout app and try for free.
